Silliness

Dearest Suparna,

We spent today in the Montmartre neighborhood in Paris. It's hard to believe it, but we checked off most of the major tourist attractions from our list yesterday. That meant that today was a nice day for exploring and doing things our own way.

As silly as it was, I did some research online and designed an "Amelie tour." It turns out that a significant portion of the movie was filmed in Paris, and some kind souls on the Internet decided to compile them together so silly fans like us could find them. I really surprised myself in all of this. Generally I don't care for celebrities or movies at all, but perhaps because this was the only French film I knew, and we both loved it, it was somehow iconic for me. I got so excited to visit all of these little places. I'm so glad that you indulged me today and did all of it with me.

To recap - we had lunch of the main cafe from Amelie, we saw both her apartment and the fruit stand that she frequents, we saw the street from the main opening scene, the place where she puts blue arrows on the Sacre Coeur, and both of the metro stations that are in the movie. My favorite part is that we took a picture together in the photo booth at the metro station. This was pure silliness, and is a lovely memory that I will always cherish. Thanks my love.

We also got to meet your school friend Rahul and his partner Gayatri. This was a true treat. There was nothing like exploring the streets of Paris with true Parisians. They knew the language, the culture, where to go and what to do. Seeing how they interacted with people was great. It provided insights into Paris that we could have never seen on our own. And both of them were such lovely and kind people. I hope that we meet them again soon, maybe on our side of the world.

Tumhaaraa hamesha,
-Daniel
